Plane rides, bonfires, and great grandparents

We took a trip to Cali this last weekend to visit my family and Azure did a lot for a 3 month old. First she went to the renowned Stinking Rose restaurant in Beverly Hills and watched her dad eat 60 cloves of garlic! Unfortunately we have no photographic evidence of this but Charles reeked of garlic for about 24 hrs after the incident.
Then she headed to the beach to have a bonfire at Corona Del Mar in the city of Newport Beach where her parents were wed. Aunt Tally and Tio Angel joined us and they so graciously watched her while Charles and I took a romantic stroll on the shore :)
Then my mom and sister babysat while Charles and I went to the Redlands Temple. I was away from Azure for a record 4 hours! The longest we've been separated since her birth. Here she is attempting to take the bottle but in the end she refused it!
On Sunday she met lots of family: great grandparents, great aunts and uncles and second cousins!
Azure also realized that it's possible to choke oneself if one puts their fingers too far down their throat.
She did great on the plane! She barely slept b/c she was so excited about the surroundings and kept looking around. She can't wait until her next adventure!

3 months

Azure is officially 3 months! I think it would be great if babies came out of the womb at 3 months (not that i would want to be pregnant for 12 months though!) they can do soo much compared to a newborn. They're so much more used to earth life. Azure is reaching even more milestones. She can roll over from her back to her tummy with my help! She has graduated to size 2 diapers exclusively now too. She still looks petite but she's long and solid. We think she weighs about 14 lbs now. Her next checkup isn't until a month from now though.
We got Azure a new toy: a play gym. She loves it! Even more than her swing. This play gym has a mobile on it and a big mirror at the top that she loves looking at. It's fun to see her smile and talk to the hanging contraptions. It's also nice to try and get more done around the house while she's entertained by it.

Handsies!

Azure has reached a new milestone: sucking her hands! Some think this is a bad thing but for me it is VERY GOOD. It's another self-calming skill and she can keep herself occupied for longer periods of time. It's also great b/c she doesn't take a pacifier.

She's also been getting better at grabbing though she doesn't have it down completely yet.

Here she is grabbing her dress and pulling it up!
Chillin' in the stroller...

And promised pics of the new swing...

The 3 Bears

So, sometime last summer Charles and I started calling each other Snuggly and Sweetums Bear, we're not sure how this came to be. And like most nicknames they evolve. Soon it became Vos (spanish for you) Bear, Vosi Bear, Vosi McBear, Vosity Vos Bear, Sweetie Bear and the like...
After a few months of this we were in the grocery store and saw a bottle of Snuggle laundry detergent. Charles just happened to stand next to it and I saw a resemblance between him and the infamous Snuggle Bear. What do you think? Then we found this website which has made us laugh hysterically and invite you all to check it out yourselves. http://snuggle.com/snuggle_fun/snuggle_boogie.aspx

With all of this bear business, we referred to Azure in the womb as Azure Bear and when she was born, little bear cub or cub bear. Now, most times I just call her cub.

With Halloween approaching we thought it would be appropriate for her to actually be a bear. So, we purchased this costume which we're thrilled about. http://store.babycenter.com/p2p/detail/zoom.do?productID=110950&intcmp=Store_ProductPg_ViewLarger
For some reason it won't let me copy the actual image here. Stay tuned for pics of Azure in her bear costume :)

Aqui estamos

We're back to blogging again. That doesn't mean our house is all unpacked yet though, but we're getting close. We've had an eventful last 2 wks with our move, visitors, buying furniture and awkward situations repeatedly that we won't mention here but have learned a lot from.
Aunt Tally came to visit Labor Day Wkend and helped us move. She was a big help! We thought about holding her hostage here, it would be great to have a live-in babysitter :)
We also went to Grandma Jensen's funeral. It was great to learn more about her life, she will be missed! We're glad that Azure got to meet her great grandmother before she passed away.
Azure enjoyed seeing all her cousins, she likes the attention!
Azure has througholy enjoyed gnawing on this fuzzy, purple frog and loving every minute of play time with him.

Every time I attempt to take a picture with Azure when she's wearing a cute outfit she starts crying!

Why is that?

Man vs Fisher Price

Swings are great. They enable parents to do things like bathe, eat, and update blogs. Unfortunately, some are not of the best craftsmanship. Our Graco swing donated by Uncle Cabe and Aunt Jenn self-destructed shortly before our move and it quickly became apparent that we needed a new one. During a visit to Dale and Kara's, Azure was able to test drive a Fisher Price "Rainforest" model swing. She was thoroughly entertained by it, so we knew what would be a sound choice when we found ourselves swingless. I set out to Babies R Us to purchase said swing while Deanna took care of Azure. I will now describe a fool-proof process of how to look like a fool.

1) Go to Babies R Us by yourself and be male.

2) Ask if you can buy the already assembled floor model rainforest model swing, complete with steel-drum jungle beats, toucan, monkey, and poison frog mobile.

3) Drive a 1986 Honda Accord LXI, and as you are buying the pre-assembled swing, think to yourself: "I'll figure out how to fit it in my car when I get out there."

4) Carry the apparatus in full view of the public out to your car.

5) Attempt to fit the awkwardly-shaped pacification device in your Japanese sedan.

6) Fail repeatedly at step 5

7) Forget to wear a belt the day steps 1-6 are performed.

Luckily, I found a button that collapsed the whole contraption and finally got the thing home. There are no pictures of the new swing to date, out of respect for the old swing. But here is a picture that finally answers definitively the question "who does Azure look like?"
